Ciao!
I don’t even know where to begin! So far this experience has been amazing! I cannot express how much of a good time I have been having with all of my roommates and the other people in this program. Tuscania is a very little town composed of 9000 people (funny to think my high school has half of that amount in students). All the people here are really laid back and typically friendly. The older people don’t really care for us too much, but then again they don’t really care for us in America either. However, we have met some interesting locals, because there are only really 2 places to hangout at night. 1) San Marco, it is a bar 2) the park that overlooks the church and countryside. As college kids……we typically stay at San Marco hahaha, we have been there every night since Thursday. But, we did go to the park last night (Sat) and had a really fun time hanging out and enjoying the view. Sat was an odd day here, there was 9 of us who really wanted to go to the beach (well there was more people who wanted to go but they were a wee bit too hung-over) since every day we have been here it has been in the 90’s. So, we asked the locals what beach that we could take a bus to was best to go to and she said Mantalto. Well the first bus that we were planning on taking was 10 min early, then the next one never came, so after waiting for about 1.5 hours we all decided that the next bus that came we would get on and just go wherever it took us. That place ended up to be a town called Tarquina (by the way I have no idea if I’m spelling these names right). We had so much fun exploring this town and just wandering all throughout it. I have noticed that the most fun I have here is when we get a group of people together and just wander. Class starts tomorrow, Labor Day isn’t celebrated here, and I couldn’t be anymore excited. A girl pointed out to us yesterday, each class we have is only for 16 days! So even if I don’t like the classes I’m in it’s not like I have to deal with them for very long. Although I don’t really think that I am ever going to get sick of the classes. The locals that we have become friends with told us that our cooking teacher is one of the best cooks here…..I cannot wait. They were all joking that we have never had food until we have eaten his hahaha. I am really hoping that he can teach us a lot of good recipes and that way I’ll be able to whip up some good stuff back home, however with the way everything has been going I don’t think I’ll ever want to go home hahaha kidding I really do miss all my friends and family very much and cannot wait to see all of you again. Well actually I really wish that flights weren’t expensive so that all of you could come enjoy this crazy-awesome-beautiful place. OH and also, there have been so many stray animals here that are so damn cool. For instance, we found a cat on our terrace last night, and it def stayed the night at our place. Her name was Cleopatra and she was the SHIT! Until she started being a dumb cat and trying to play with all of us this morning when we were sleeping, then we let her out side so she could go back to home hahaha, all the guys have a joke running that by the time I go home I am going to have flees because I want to pet all the dogs. Also, I have been contemplating buying puppies they have for sale here and bringing one home. It’s name would be Cane Oweste (Cane is dog, Oweste is west) ☺
Love you all!
